Andrew Warren's fight to be reinstated continues to play out in court. With the deadline for qualifying for the August primary election approaching late next month, the prosecutor filed a motion in federal court asking for his case to be resolved quickly.

U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle said he would try to deliver an opinion “as quick as I can” on law and rules prohibiting the use of puberty blockers and hormone therapy to treat children for gender dysphoria.

In issuing the order, U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle ruled that the “case will turn almost entirely on common issues” with common answers.

The parents of three transgender children filed the suit. They did not appear during the hearing.

Andrew Warren filed the petition days after he announced he was filing an appeal in federal court.

Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended Warren in August. A district court judge ruled DeSantis violated Warren's First Amendment rights, but did not have the authority to reinstate him.

Former Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren won't get his job back after asking Gov. Ron DeSantis to reinstate him in a letter this week.

Citing the ruling in federal court that his First Amendment rights were violated, Warren wrote the letter to "respectfully request" DeSantis "voluntarily reinstate me as Hillsborough County's duly elected state attorney."

Lawyers for Warren said the suspension was clearly motivated by politics. U.S. District Court Judge Robert Hinkle says it will be at least two weeks before he rules.

Starting Tuesday, a U.S. District Court judge will hear arguments over whether DeSantis exceeded his powers by suspending Warren for "neglect of duty." The trial is expected to last 3-5 days.
