Sprawling Development

Much of Florida's history has been defined by what we grow — think oranges, winter vegetables, timber and cattle. But a new study says the state's ongoing development could threaten much of that heritage.

The bill would make it prohibitively expensive for most citizens to fight changes to a county's comprehensive growth plans.

Groups targeted proposals that could do such things as redefine sprawl, deter citizens from challenging comprehensive land-plan amendments and prevent cities and counties from regulating wetlands.
