Speaking in Tampa, DeSantis declined to speculate on potential deaths but said from videos and from calls with local officials, “this was a really, really catastrophic incident.”

At least one person has died. Authorities said rescuers helped evacuate at least 35 people who were trapped inside the building near Miami.
