USF New president

The Florida Board of Governors confirmed Rhea Law in a unanimous vote.

Outgoing state Sen. Jeff Brandes, R-Pinellas County, talks about his bill that recently passed in the Senate that would allow applicants for university president to keep their names confidential. And his expectations for a new University of South Florida president.

The USF Presidential Search Committee is expected to have candidates selected for the position by early next year.

Some speakers at a recent town hall want a consensus builder and problem solver, while others would prefer someone who knows both Florida's higher education and political systems.

The university is distributing a form that will assist in selecting a permanent replacement for Steven Currall.

“We are extremely disappointed that decisions to modify our approach are no longer being guided by science and data,” USF Faculty Senate President Timothy Boaz said.
