Three finalists have been named to become USF Saint Petersburg's regional chancellor, and the man currently filling the seat is not among them.
The Tampa Bay Times reports interim Chancellor Bill Hogarth was among the six candidates interviewed for the position this week. However, the director of the Florida Institute of Oceanography did not receive enough votes from the advisory committee.
The three finalists are Ron Brown, provost and senior vice president of academic affairs at Wayne State University in Detroit; Ralph Rogers, vice chancellor for academic affairs and mechanical engineering professor at Purdue University Calumet in Indiana; and Sophia Wisniewska, chancellor at Penn State Brandywine in Media, Pennsylvania.
The Times reports USF President Judy Genshaft will review the committee's recommendations. Once the picks are finalized and an independent firm conducts background and reference checks, the three would undergo a series of interviews and public presentations at USF St. Pete, most likely sometime in February.
The new regional chancellor will replace Margaret Sullivan, who resigned last August to "pursue new adventures."
