Over six thousand students will pick up their diplomas at a series of graduation ceremonies around the USF System over the next week.
According to USF News, the Tampa campus will hand out 3,924 bachelor's degrees, 1,018 master's and 198 doctoral and specialist degrees. USF St. Petersburg graduates 454 students, while USF Sarasota-Manatee will award 290 diplomas.
USF Tampa will hold five separate ceremonies in the Sun Dome. They'll take place at 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Friday, May 3 and at 9 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, May 4.
The Friday 1:30 p.m. ceremony will recognize undergraduates from the College of Arts & Sciences School of Social Sciences only. 740 graduates are anticipated. The Friday 6 p.m. ceremony will recognize undergraduates from the College of Arts & Sciences School of Humanities and School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics only. 850 graduates are anticipated. The Saturday 9 a.m. ceremony will recognize undergraduates from the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences and the College of Business. Over 850 graduates are anticipated. The Saturday 1:30 p.m. ceremony will recognize undergraduates from the Colleges of Education, Engineering, Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, The Arts and Undergraduate Studies. Over 850 graduates are anticipated. The Saturday 6 p.m. ceremony will recognize graduate students from all colleges. Over 730 graduates are anticipated.
USF Sarasota-Manatee will hold its commencement ceremony at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 5 at the Bradenton Area Convention Center, while USF Saint Petersburg holds its ceremony that evening at 6 p.m. at the Mahaffey Theater. The Morsani College of Medicine will award medical degrees on Friday, May 10 at 10 a.m. at the Straz Center.
One more set of numbers: The youngest graduate is 19-year-old Anthony J. Schryer II, who is receiving a bachelor of science in computer science. The oldest is 74-year-old Joan V. Schoenling, who attained a master’s degree in adult education.
