A pair of USF graduates are rowing for a record -- and a charity that lets people with disabilities interact with horses -- in downtown Tampa today.
Matt and Shannon Casey plan to row 26.2 -- not miles, the length of a marathon -- but HOURS. They started at 11 a.m. Wednesday and plan to keep going until 1:12 p.m. Thursday.
They're hoping to set a world record for continuous rowing, but they're also trying to raise $5,000 for Quantum Leap Farm, an Odessa-based charity that provides therapy for people with physical disabilities and other challenges, particularly veterans, by letting them work with horses and other therapy animals.
The pair isn't actually rowing on water, and they're taking turns -- one hour on, one hour off -- on a rowing machine on the sidewalk on Tampa Street just south of Cass in downtown Tampa.

Matt Casey, a former captain of the USF Rowing Team, recently graduated from the College of Business. Shannon Casey will be a junior in the fall, studying biomedical sciences and gerontology.
