A small laboratory explosion overnight has led authorities to temporarily close the Research and Innovation building on the University of South Florida's Tampa campus.
According to Tampa Fire Rescue officials, crews responded to an automatic fire alarm at the building at 3720 Spectrum Blvd. around 2:45 Wednesday morning.
Apparently, a refrigerator door had been blown off and hit the inner pane of a double-paned window in a chemical lab. No chemicals were spilled and there was no fire. No injuries were reported.
A TFR hazardous material team cleared and ventilated the building, which houses both offices and laboratories.
The lab is reportedly leased to cancer research drug company Intezyne.
A fire marshal's investigator will determine the cause of the explosion. The cost of the damage has not yet been estimated either.
USF officials will determine when the building is safe for people to enter.
