USF Students Flying Home For Thanksgiving Can Catch A Free Ride To Airport

USF Student Government
USF Student Government is offering complimentary bus rides between the Tampa campus and Tampa International airport for students traveling for Thanksgiving this week.

University of South Florida students flying home this week for the Thanksgiving holiday can catch a free ride to the airport.

Under a plan put together by Student Government, students flying out of Tampa International Airport Tuesday night or Wednesday can hop on board a bus outside the Marshall Student Center.

"Seeing as we have a lot of international and out-of-state students, we want to provide an easy way to get to and from the airport to go home for the holiday break to that they don't have to bother a friend or a lot of students Uber and that ends up being up to $30 just to get over to the airport," said Vice President Alec Waid. "So we really wanted to provide an easy way for students to get to and from their transportation to get home to their families."

Funding for the rides comes from student activity and service fees.

"It's Student Government's job to take that fee and utilize it to best accommodate and best benefit our students," Waid said.

He added that, so far, 35 over students have signed up.

"We're kind of using Thanksgiving as a trial period to see how the logistics of it will work, so that when we move into the winter break, we're able to provide for a lot more and understand how we can best accommodate our students," Waid said.

Rides will leave from the MSC Bus Loop Tuesday night at 7 p.m. and Wednesday at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Return rides from TIA will take place Sunday, Nov. 27, at noon, 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
